i really don't know what to think about the biden situation, but i have a few friends who are gung ho "biden needs to resign" types and it's funny to watch them all get hyped up and then immediately deflate when i say "so, kamala?"
Much like the Trump prosecutions, I'm just so glad we waited until a good 6 to 12 months after the absolute latest point it could have made a difference to start having these conversations.
I think a Harris-Moulton ticket could beat Trump and whoever. In any case, I would enjoy seeing Harris drag Trump in a debate. Also, there is no end to the stupid things Trump might do or say at any moment, and he's probably less healthy than Biden.
Why? Kamala is young enough to run circles around Trump. She is only a few points weaker than Biden in the polls. But the scenario should be, Biden resigns the presidency, Kamala H. becomes prez, balloons at the convention.
💯. And the follow up being, “ok, but how do you just have an open convention assuming that your sitting vice president is not the alternative?” This Aaron Sorkin stuff is exhausting.
while i get where you'se coming from this seems a little unfair because outside of an extremely small, extremely demented cadre of obsessives, nobody has ever liked kamala. she is one of the most uniquely unelectable people in history, and i halfway believe that's why biden chose her.
I’ve moved closer to the “Biden needs to go” camp over the course of the weekend and I am fine with Kamala as the replacement. Is she the best possible Dem? Probably no, but I believe she has a lot more upside than Biden at this point
Hell I may be wrong but I think Kamala would do it. If the party thinks she's uniquely unelectable though, that's fine. I'm not here to save them from themselves.
People who hate Kamala as a choice while demonizing Biden for supporting of Netanyahu's genocide piss me off.
Kamala dislikes and opposes Biden's endless support of Netanyahu and lack of a spine to fight him. She is a critic of his shitting handling of Israel/Palestine.
Frustrating people.
certainly there could be no particular consequences to just completely throwing the outcome of an actual primary election that millions of party members voted in, with expectations about what that meant, out the window
i'm not the first to say this, but this is very similar to the "generic democrat" effect (in polling, an unnamed democrat or republican will often do better than actual politicians because there's no associated baggage). people are hyped on "someone else" but not on anyone in particular.
I know a lot of folks are a bit nervous about not considering Kamala because she's a black woman ... But Democrats need a winnable candidate. Even before the debate, PB was polling neck in neck with the felon, fraudulent, rapist. Kamala would not win and her race/gender have little to do with it.
