i'm not the first to say this, but this is very similar to the "generic democrat" effect (in polling, an unnamed democrat or republican will often do better than actual politicians because there's no associated baggage). people are hyped on "someone else" but not on anyone in particular.

So much current Biden support is really based in anti-Trump animus. Harris would inherit that support, with the ability to build on the depressed polling of AA and Gen Zs that Biden currently has no chance of corralling.

Yeah, I think Biden sucks and wish he wasn’t the candidate but realistically, there’s just no one else to sub in 4 months before the vote and I think anyone pretending otherwise is fooling themselves

The only way it could work is if Biden has a serious, genuine health issue and is forced to bow out in favor of Harris. If Dems (and all voters) *freaked out*, I think there's a chance people would rise to the occasion. But it doesn't work if he just resigns like he's giving up

But the polling for other specific dems is pretty similar and they have less name recognition. Any voter apathy toward Kamala is further evidence that Biden is unfit since he picked her.
