What a lot of companies simply don't understand is that these are extremely specialized tools, oftentimes best employed when quality at any cost is the goal. Even then they still fail sometimes. They're trying to use hedge shears for personal grooming and burning the planet in the process.

Plus the impacts on someone who's still growing and may go massive hormonal shifts during the course of treatment. Not to mention how difficult it can be to properly inform and comfort pediatric patients going through something they can't understand yet. Pediatrics is crazy hard.

At first I thought "oh after reading posts by basement dwellers on 4chan ofc this wouldn't make a big impact" and then I realized it's extremely repetitive and just... uncomfortable. I was not an insightful teenager and even to me that book was so mediocre and uncomfortable I had to drop it.

SC6 is a great game but I think it was held back by weird extraneous system mechanics and terrible netcode. I think the world would be happy with an SC2 balance patch + some new characters and good rollback netcode, but with Namco who knows what we'll get.

I'm pretty sure it is a spurdoism. I wonder if it was drawn from spurdo or independently recreated in a weird form of convergent linguistic evolution.

To be fair, a lot of animals eat eggs so that one probably wasn't much of a leap. Snakes and cats are common examples.

Giving a cop the mugshot treatment because he arrested a rich person who was guilty and acting like that’s totally normal should be a moment that open’s people’s eyes to the jig.

If prosecuting Boeing for violating the previous penalties is too risky then Boeing has carte-blanche to do anything it wants. Looks like the government is admitting they have no recourse besides another limp wristed half measure.

I had a boss that loves to call without warning and the way my eyes exploded open when I overslept and it was 8:17 because I knew only he would cold call like that is an experience I won't forget soon.

"Truth tellers are the Achilles heel of collective denial. And so those who wear masks are ridiculed, scientists reporting on COVID-19 risks are cast as fearmongers, and those with long COVID are dismissed as having anxiety disorders." Fantastic piece on the tactics behind denial by sociologists.

Most languages modernized their written systems to make sense in the 19th and 20th centuries. For some reason, English chose not to. As a result, spelling bees.

When the MBAs (read: psychopaths) finally decided that quality departments and upper level planning are too costly and need to be stripped to the bone, even in highly regulated industries. It took decades of economic gaslighting but here we are.

If the people making decisions were required to know anything about the work that's being done, management would end at the director level. Maybe even a step below that. I'm a med dev engineer and nobody above my boss knows anything about the day to day.

Even the "regulated" capitalism we had sucked ass but using Gilded Age imagery might have a mote profound effect on peoples' perspectives. Talk about union massacres and political machines with people you know so they understand where we are socioeconomically.

The term late capitalism unintentionally implies an inevitability. I think it might be better to rebrand it as what it was, unregulated capitalism. Remind people that we are approaching the triangle shirtwaist, kids hands getting cut off era of American history.

I guess Jim Browning and Kitboga deserved it. Anyways when you inevitably click on something you shouldn't, I hope you learn from that experience. You are not immune to propaganda. Your community, family, and friends are your only protection in this world. Good luck!

And as with everything, the problems are systemic and structural, but all the solutions are pushed onto *you.* Our political system is incapable of action, and corporations don’t care, so just accept that voice communication is now useless, and every text and voicemail is a potential threat.

You're an idiot but I'll try to help regardless. Everyone is vulnerable to scams. Even the people whose day job it is to disrupt scammers get got. It's a matter of if, not when, you get scammed and the only thing we can really do is protect each other. Part of that is reviewing emails and the like.

I always hated this argument because with private health insurance you are still paying for other peoples' healthcare. And a middle man fee. And for the healthcare of those middlemen who actively want you to stay sick and dying.

You can learn during a round by testing stuff. If I block a move and it looks unsafe, I usually try an i10 punish. If it hits, next time I try i12 and so on until I can't punish anymore. But to your point, online makes this process unreliable.

Either we'll have to wait until it starts affecting rich people or something big will have to happen. But this can't continue forever and the pipe dream of FSD keeps the hope for it alive just a little longer.
