There is something seriously wrong with the postal voting system. In the last week I met three people whose vote did not arrive before they went on holiday, one person whose vote had not arrived. In addition I spoke to one person whose neighbours voting packs did not arrive.
On the news earlier they were saying "it's ok! Your ballot will be here tomorrow and then you can just take it into your local voting station on the day and drop it off!"
Hard not to feel it's a deliberate exercise to destroy much of the disabled vote.
Itβs a big issue in our area, loads of people havenβt got their postal vote even now. Plenty who went on holiday last week or over the weekend without getting it.
And yet weβre told voter fraud is a problem.
I was so worried about this that I got a proxy vote as well. The postal vote is ok in theory but fraught with problems. Why we donβt have a secure web based voting system in 2024 is beyond me. I can buy and sell a house, see my doctor, transfer money to France all online. But not vote. Ridiculous.
Brilliant analysis of this abs disgrace by Jackie Kemp - maddeningly another π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ not here - in substack posted an hour ago. (It's free to read)
Generously highlights cross party nature of issue esp in π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ .
