I reckon it’s worth it. Me and friends who switched from Labour to green are doing it with our local MP. There’s the temptation to feel it’s futile and Starmer’s wee gang have done a lot to encourage that but the underlying numbers are scary for them.

Do you mean limits, rather than the dividing lines? The dividing lines (zero on the axes) are centrism. Anyway if it makes you feel better it works very well in the status quo fallacy case. I used it to help change a friend’s voting intention (labour to green) two days before the election.

I’m not sure I agree, but to be clear I’m not in any way offended by you differing. It does the thing that it seems to not do well in *your* experience *super* well in my experience. Not doubting your testimony, just interested that they are so different. Maybe different audiences?

Thing is, they didn’t really. Despite their hard tack to the authoritarian right Labour actually won less of a share of the vote than they did in 2017, when they only got 232 seats, and yet this time they got 411. Reform (who are, to be clear, vile) gave them the kicking.

Conversely I find it an invaluable tool in understanding and talking about local (i.e. European nation level) political positions. Any framing that places UK Labour on an absolute left axis would be worthless, and a relative left axis is trivially true.

A lot of folks have that criticism of the method. I find it unpersuasive living, as I do, part of the time in a european country that has communist members of parliament
