Finally decided to learn what the heck a "cozy mystery" is and so I was quite surprised to learn that one of the first short stories I wrote (and tried to get published) was in fact one. (On Mars!) I doubt it would have been my last if I hadn't, you know, stopped writing prose mostly. Well.

I keep thinking of the classical Athenian system. Is 201 too many to wish for? C'mon, they could do it by Zoom or whatever in this day and age. I'm honestly not sure to what degree I'm kidding.

One of my first posts on LiveJournal was how platforms like LiveJournal seemed like a bad idea for me personally and maybe society overall. Like pouring a shot of whiskey while announcing "hang on, I may be an alcoholic" and waking up under a mountain of bottles 2 decades later.

It's weird how I often I find myself resisting the urge to use social media to remark about how I very seriously should probably quit social media. And no, I didn't resist the urge to meta-comment on it. Obviously.

Yeah, if the filesystem gets munged (as opposed to the drive just dying) then that _can_ get copied over. Same if you just go nuts and delete all your files or something. Stuff like automated mirroring is for high availability and doesn't replace backups. As I was reminded the hard way.

I left out the part where was I _initially_ did with those two new drives was make an automatically mirrored pair and so of course promptly the live one got corrupted and that got mirrored to the other one (I get that's not what you were talking about, it just reminded me of what a goof I was)
