Yeah, if Biden's brains slid out onto the table like a jell-o mold I can still bet real money his handlers wouldn't appoint people to cabinet positions who are actively hostile to the concept of good governance.

I do know that if there's any ambiguity at all from a legal standpoint it'll end up in front of SCOTUS. Which, you know. Ask Al Gore how that goes.

Like, is Biden's age damaging? Sure seems to be! Is it as damaging as pausing active campaigning for a couple weeks a few months from election day so we can re-tool and launch a new candidate who may not be legally entitled to use the resources he's gathered? Who's to say, not me.

I do think it's possible to be still up to the task of governing while not being up to the task of campaigning - candidates do travel and work and appear at a pace that's nowhere near as customizable as being the executive. But again, also probably not the point they're making.

People keep saying to me, "WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE BIDEN?" as though I give a fuck. He can swear in on the Bible and immediately walk to a separate podium to resign for all I care.

To be fair, "don't make us kill you" is the kind of threat you make in advance when you don't think you've got victory sewn up. We need to be sounding the alarm, yes, but this is also an indication of weaknesses on their part.

Humans in the real world just don’t freak out about threats in the relatively logical, comprehensible way that they’re portrayed freaking out about things (alien invasions, fascist takeovers, mutant robots) in most mass media.

Oh, nobody. Kamala has the best shot at clearing the bar, provided Biden resigns from office and allows her to ascend as the incumbent, but anyone else who filed is also on record as having *lost.* It's possible that could go through some brokered-convention nightmare, but I shudder to imagine.

He'd definitely have to, in order to shore up any potential critiques of Kamala taking over. She never filed to run for President herself, which would open up GOP legal challenges to her appearing on the ballot as the candidate. But as an incumbent, she has the right to run for re-election.

The early seasons of "For All Mankind" focus specifically on that era when we used math and pens to put people in space. With fun alternate-history angles on top of it.

Like, Biden was born in 1942, which we've been aware of since 1942. This is not new information. He's old. He's also excellent at occupying a chair that Trump wants to use to BREAK THE FUCKING WORLD. Let the old man take a fucking nap in the chair for all I care, as long as Trump doesn't get it.

Seriously, I feel like the GOP just Obi-Wan waved at the Democrats, "You're worried that Biden is too old." And the Democrats were just like, "Oh my god, Biden is too old!"

I do feel like "incredible" has a generally-positive connotation that can be confusing, though. Like, I get that it can mean good or bad things, but the bulk of it gets deployed one way.

I think a lot of ultra-wealthy people figure that if they can amass enough wealth and hang in there long enough, a mass die-off of human beings will solve most of their problems.

Given what happens in the JAWS novel (yikes) it was bold of Spielberg to have Matt Hooper show up with two bottles of wine, ask Brody “How was your day?” while holding his gaze for a full minute, and then get him in a boat (which Brody hates) while talking about his rich he is. The game on this guy.

The crazy thing is, all JKR would have to do is apologize publicly for her transphobic statements and retreat from public life, and Warner Bros would probably be able to start a sequel Harry Potter series with the original surviving cast that would make her another billion dollars. What a fuckup.

If you're unmoved, unconvinced, unmotivated, you have to imagine thousands like you feeling the same. And if you dial it in, do the work, that's what the thousands like you are doing, too.

I think Democrats' obsession with being fair and appropriate could get us all killed right now. We need a little bit more of the GOP's "if we lose, no we didn't" attitude. I think we need to remember: we're winning this thing, whether they want us to or not.

Either way, the questions: "Can the Democrats legally put someone else on their ballot?" or "Did Biden steal this election?" will eventually go before... the Supreme Court.

I just worry that we're getting tricked into making errors. Either we try and replace Biden as a candidate, which the GOP would sue about to get his replacement taken off ballots in swing states, or we win with Biden and they say their lead-up polls prove this must be impossible.

Like, Biden's breaking fundraising records right now, we can prove that because it's a hard number. And yes, some of that's coming from big-ticket donors. But some of it isn't!

So you don't poll very well or very frequently, and just spam the airwaves with the idea that Biden is dropping precipitously in spite of everything going on in the headlines. It's manufacturing consent for their eventual fascist uprising.

For the Trump campaign, what's far more helpful for them is to just not run many polls, so that in the absence of polls they can talk loudly about the strength of their internals. So that later, if they lose, they can say it was rigged/stolen, because where did all these "extra" votes come from?

Pre-election polls never seem to capture the sustained anger over the repeal of Roe v Wade. It's just never become baked into any models. Sure, some women in certain regions may be reluctant to voice that support out loud, but everything since Dobbs suggests this shouldn't be a horse race.

I feel like the total collapse of effective polling over the last couple of elections has really helped carry water for GOP narratives. Like, there's honestly no way the race is as close right now as polls suggest. Post-Dobbs, hard Trump districts have swung +20 to Democrats. And yet!

In some ways, making George Lucas' dialogue sound cool and natural is just as much a challenge as making Shakespeare accessible to modern audiences, which is probably why Sir Alec Guinness knocked it out of the park.
