Since the pandemic started, this community has been less visible than ever (as they've disproportionately been staying out of crowds and public spaces for safety reasons) even as their numbers have swelled from Long COVID. It's extra hard to march and chant when you're constantly fatigued.

Also apropos of it being disability pride month - another easy thing you can do to make your social media posts more accessible is to use camel case, effectively capitalising each word in hashtags. This is easier for everyone to read and can be processed by screen reading software.

In November, Israel arrested Mohammad Abu Salmiya on the claim that he facilitated the use of Al-Shifa as a "Hamas HQ". This was served to the west and Israeli public as justification for the storming and massacres in the hospital complex. After 7 months of torture, he was released without charges.

From a 2019 thread: Yesterday somebody asked me not to use a word because of its connections with oppression and I went through all the stages of "Don't Tell Me I Can't Use That Word." In my head. And then I got to, "Yeah, okay, I can omit that word from my vocabulary." Decency takes intention.
