It's worth remembering that nihilism and denial don't work (i tried that), that only fighting and resistance works, that white people like me have a lot to learn from Black resistance and protest and just living through every day. Especially the Black trans people who came before and are living now.

I tried that + denial during the last US election (I'm Canadian) + surprisingly it didn't work too well (i'm dumb). We have a lot to learn from Black people in the Americas, esp as a trans person I'm now understanding how important it is to watch, observe, protect yourself but keep going/resisting.

I see what you're getting at but don't push yourself. Doing what you're doing both in comics (i.e. beautiful amazing work) and outside of it (e.g. social media) helps develop a great environment for queer comics creators. So you're helping build that all the time that you/your work exists :)

Denial is powerful + tricky. So many years thinking "you're not trans, you just want to be special like them". Being around lots of queer people finally encouraged me to come out + being around trans people cracked the egg. Had to be so patient, slowly convincing myself I'm right about this 🙄
