As we all know, poor people faced with a traffic ticket or something can simply tell a judge "I cannot pay this and I think it is unfair" and the fine is immediately reduced by 60 percent
I don't know why the MAGA freaks are celebrating, though. This just proves how broke he really is that he can't even post the bond to the point that he had to beg them to reduce it. Like Biden said 'broke Don'. Also, if he loses the appeal, he still has to pay the original amount.
Actually, yeah. that happens.
I also think that posing the whole bond is unfair to poor litigants and this kind of reduction is the right way to go.
The problem is that this asshole gets to litigate it and win and it won't be a precedent for others.
The FINE has not been reduced. The amount of the bond he must post, pending his appeal, has been reduced. His underlying liability under the judgment isn’t changed.
Especially after bragging to anyone who can listen that the judge is a stupid asshole and that he totally has the money and simply doesn't want to pay it.
Any ordinary American would have been buried in contempt charges by now if they had his conduct.
from "The I just gotta wonder..." files:
... whyTF is 45tfg using "Nearly [not] Obvious Orange" Shellac face+CamelToe/vagNeck covering?
Big hint for 45+et al: Shellac 45tfg's hands. This is tough bc 45tfg will often have his hands buried Deeply in maga-pockets' Minion's wallets. Again. Again. Again.
Haha more like they get put in jail temporarily until someone helps them post bail. How Trump gets away with all his decades of fraud is beyond logic. Mind you this is in NY and dominated by Democrats. More reason to clean house and replace Corporate Dems with Progressives
“I cannot pay this, you are a crooked tool of the Deep State and I hope you and your clerk are targeted by mentally unstable fanatics (I’ve given them your addresses). Like Jesus, I am being persecuted. Make a deal or I will have my vengeance.”
“Ok I’m gonna add some stuff to that traffic fine.”
wait, are you kidding?
Traffic courts often *do* consider the ability to pay!
While not the case everywhere in the US, many courts are moving towards taking income into account when deciding fines. This can lead to reductions for those who can't afford the standard penalty.
This would be a good campaign message for Dems (if they could find their ass with both hands.)
'Would YOU be able to get a significant reduction in the fees from any type of bond or lien?'
It's shocking that many Americans see this multiple bankrupt, convicted sex offender, failed businessman who tried to throw his Country in to civil war as fit for anything, let alone it's highest office. I wouldn't trust him to run a bath.
