As we all know, poor people faced with a traffic ticket or something can simply tell a judge "I cannot pay this and I think it is unfair" and the fine is immediately reduced by 60 percent

I think it’s important to point out that the bond needed to appeal the ruling was reduced. Not the actual fine. That still stands.

I don't know why the MAGA freaks are celebrating, though. This just proves how broke he really is that he can't even post the bond to the point that he had to beg them to reduce it. Like Biden said 'broke Don'. Also, if he loses the appeal, he still has to pay the original amount.

And they would definitely immediately forgive the court fees and not issue a warrant for not paying

Actually if you go to court and appeal your ticket it's not unheard of that they will reduce the fine.

Actually, yeah. that happens. I also think that posing the whole bond is unfair to poor litigants and this kind of reduction is the right way to go. The problem is that this asshole gets to litigate it and win and it won't be a precedent for others.

The FINE has not been reduced. The amount of the bond he must post, pending his appeal, has been reduced. His underlying liability under the judgment isn’t changed.

Especially after bragging to anyone who can listen that the judge is a stupid asshole and that he totally has the money and simply doesn't want to pay it. Any ordinary American would have been buried in contempt charges by now if they had his conduct.

This is tough bc 45tfg will often have his hands buried Deeply in maga-pockets' Minion's wallets. Again. Again. Again.

Haha more like they get put in jail temporarily until someone helps them post bail. How Trump gets away with all his decades of fraud is beyond logic. Mind you this is in NY and dominated by Democrats. More reason to clean house and replace Corporate Dems with Progressives

He still has to pay. This is just the bond while he appeals. This is more akin to bonds. 'I can't pay $500 in bail money. Ok, go die in Rikers.'

wait, are you kidding? Traffic courts often *do* consider the ability to pay! While not the case everywhere in the US, many courts are moving towards taking income into account when deciding fines. This can lead to reductions for those who can't afford the standard penalty.
