SCOTUS essentially restructured American governance over the last couple of weeks. Even if you can get past the 8 million Biden old stories in the Times to the people whose job it is to cover the court, you would have no idea of the scale of the changes made.

Full quote from ex-ICE director Tom Homan: "Trump comes back in January... I will run the biggest deportation force this country has ever seen. They ain’t seen shit yet. Wait until 2025.” Tonight in Florida Trump pledged to bring Homan back. Homan, BTW, is a listed Project 2025 contributor.

People felt VERY free to tear chunks off Biden because they figured he was cooked. But driving out a president is a big deal, and now they’ve just potentially mortally wounded him while failing

Just to be clear, the current NYT home page is 4 stories about Biden's age, plus another editorial board urging him to withdraw, plus about how Trump is moderating the GOP on abortion.

Not great how a major federal contractor is rife with sexual harassment and nothing is done about. NLRB filed a complaint, which was paused by a GOP hack judge. Federal gov't keeps plowing money into it for work that either shouldn't happen or should be gov't run. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

I think part of the current obsession with getting Biden out is, unlike 2016, to be able to say "we told you so" ahead of time if Dems lose. But there is a marked difference between telling Biden to get out and a non-stop campaign that will weaken his candidacy.

We fixate on the Times a lot and I am sure that gets old. But it is not just because it is representative of the media, or a leader that sets the tone (though it is both of those things), it is, increasingly, a large chunk of the national media.

Been thinking about the Claudine Gay coverage as a keystone to Biden coverage : it was an editorial campaign driven by story after story. It takes enormous editorial hubris to be certain they are right (they were wrong about Gay).

Meanwhile, Trump, the person who has boasted about ending Roe, and whose appointees will seek to use executive authority to make abortion pills illegal to distribute, is a moderate on abortion per the NYT.

Ultimately the Democratic Party gets to decide who its nominee is, for better or worse. But it certainly seems like parts of the media believe they it is their job to choose the Democratic candidate, rather than covering the strengths and weaknesses of *both* candidates running for President.

One thing that's clear from the Biden/age story is this: NYT knows how to crusade when it wants to. And NYT is crusading against Biden's mental unfitness for office in a way it's just not doing with Trump.

Really worth watching this explainer on one of the key elements of Project 2025. For Brits, it's also worth noting the similarity with Reform UK's pledge to replace the civil service with political appointees.
