Bake at 350 for somewhere around an hour. You can sprinkle coarse sugar over the top before it goes in the oven if you want, I didn't

Then dump in your peaches and drizzle/spoon the reserved little bit of batter over the top. You won't cover the peaches even if you try, it's fine

I forgot to get a picture of this step but reserve between 1/3-1/2 c batter. Dump the rest into the buttery baking dish and spread it around the bottom of the pan as best you can

Melt a stick of butter in your baking dish in a preheated 350 degree oven. Make your batter (1 c flour, 1 c sugar, a pinch of salt, 1.5 tsp baking powder, 1/2 c milk. Stir until just combined, it's better to be lumpy than it is to over stir)

Cook your peaches in the butter until they are soft and thick. It'll take maybe 10-15 minutes

Melt a half stick of butter. Stir a half cup of sugar and a couple tablespoons of flour into your sliced peaches. If you're using frozen or grocery store peaches, you can also add a little cinnamon and ground ginger. These peaches don't need it

Be mindful while you slice them that no stems or chunks of the pit make their way into the finished product

Cut a shallow x in the bottom of the peaches. Drop them into boiling water, maybe 3-4 at a time, until the skin starts peeling away. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drop them into the bowl of ice water. Pull the peels off with your clean hands and slice
