Raw milk is helpful for making cheese, but that involves *processing*.

Sure the whole "place of knowledge" quote is meh, but mad props to him for being willing to admit his limitations, even if it's "I'm not up to learning enough about women to write a woman protagonist."

Women, OTOH... depicting women in fiction is *fraught*. Even women have written women badly. Any woman protagonist in a story is going to get fine tooth combed in every aspect-appearance, dialogue, motivations, relationships, etc etc.

OK, I'm gonna argue this, cause I think it's a silly comparison.
Anyone can write a whole ass ancient dragon because they are *pretend*. You can literally give them any social structure, behaviors, life experiences, whatever, because the don't exist. There's really no way to fuck it up.

What? No it wasn't. A bunch of people warned about exactly this, before it happened, and then AS IT WAS HAPPENING. People just… kept pretending that the dude who conned them hadn't conned them and was, in fact, a super genius, instead of taking the fucking L and holding him anything like accountable

The official 2024 GOP platform makes a reference to "Christian-hating Communists" who the Republicans will keep from entering the country. Back in the early days of the America First movement, "Christian-hating Communists" would have just been a longer way of saying "Jews."

President Biden and other Democrats are increasingly focusing their attacks on an aggressive right-wing agenda called Project 2025 that is being pushed by allies of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump — prompting Trump and his team to lash out in recent days at supporters of the effort.

At the outset, I want to make it clear that I think the allegations against Gaiman are serious, credible, and very disturbing. Nothing in this thread should be taken as suggesting that I think otherwise.
I'm purely highlighting some points about what defamation law can/can't do.

I recognize my extreme privilege in not needing to earn a living with my art. I don't think anyone else is overcharging for their art, and I'm not out to 'undercut' anyone.
I make art because I can, and then I want it to make other people happy.

Honestly, I have always *hated* this framing. I charge what I do for my art because *that's what I want to charge*. It has nothing to do with me thinking me or my art is worthless or worth less. If people try to guilt trip others, that's *not my fault*.

Results showed that close to half of the participants secured housing, and nearly $600K saved in public service costs due to fewer ER visits & jail stays. They also saw improved mental health.
