I can't repeat this enough. President is an important role, but the point of the American experiment is that it is NOT an all-powerful one. All of us learned this in, like, 8th grade govt class. Panicking over the presidency plays into Trump's desire to consolidate power, no matter who wins.

I think it's less comfort-based & more competition-based. I try to remind my kid all the time that it doesn't matter who caused a problem, only who is able to solve it. Anyone trying to "climb the corporate ladder" clings to a problem until they can provide the solution.
