Just because I've seen it from some well meaning people: be careful overemphasising the pro-Palestine independents as a Muslim phenomenon. It doesn't rank highly on top issues even among British Muslims and is a cross community issue.

Remembering that this is a new record low turnout. A trend started by Blair in 1997, setting the previous post-1918 record low in 2001. They don't want us to vote and have long discouraged it. UKIP exploited the yawning chasm and the left needs to work out how to pull off the pro-social equivalent.

A total of four seats for the Greens, up from one, and Lib Dems up a massive 61 from 8. There's a story there, and the story is there are people who are left-leaning, but cannot vote for labour with a clear conscience. (Climate change ignored and anti-trans rhetoric.)

Some initial thoughts on the UK elections. 1. It confirms once again that when a center-right party veers to the hard right to weaken the far right, it ends up doing the opposite. After purging moderates and going full-on wingnuts and fever swamp, the Tories got decimated by Reform, not Labour. 🧵

It's not quite done here but Labour went from twenty points plus ahead to a ten point lead in six weeks. And that Reform vote is a lot of that Tory vote. Look at those numbers and tell me this Labour majority is one that lasts another election.
