I've also seen people talk about taking a photo of their hallucination with their phone because it doesn't show up, though of course this doesn't work for all types of delusions.

I think one of the reasons adults fail to discuss important, mature topics with kids is because those topics weren't discussed with them as kids, so they don't know how to handle it. Just a cycle of not knowing how to tell kids stuff they really should know earlier than adults are comfortable with.

I hate getting into hygiene discourse because it gets ableist super fast, often, but as a skincare/makeup PERSON, the reason washcloths are better than your hand for washing is the texture on the terrycloth exfoliates your dead skin cells so you are quite literally less dusty as a human being.

Hadn't seen the transcript of ep 2 yet, that's pretty bad. To be clear, I think(and thought) NG did at least some of it. It's just really hard to be certain of anything when the only reporter is basically Tucker Carlson.

I don't think he's innocent, and the longer this goes the worse I think the truth is. But taking just the word of a single far-right podcast on anything...I wouldn't do it for any other issue, why would I do it here?

My guess is some elements are true, some are false, and some are different points of view. Thus, NG is currently sequestered with lawyers figuring out what he can or cannot say for various lawsuits both ways.

Not just the victims. I haven't seen a single news site that independently confirms the victim ever worked for Neil Gaiman, has his actual denial, or has even confirmed the NZ cops are involved. When the only source is secondhand info from Boris Johnson's sister, I'd like it if we double-checked.

I have no way of knowing. If that podcast said the sky was blue I'd look out the window to check. I'm not saying it's made up(my gut says at least some is true, some is heavily spun), but I really want a second news source to look into it.

Where? Everything I can find just links back to Tortoise Media, which isn't exactly a reputable source. There's no statement linked from his socials or on his website, and no news site seems to have anything except the NZ police investigating and a link to Tortoise Media. Am I missing it?

Is there another source on all of it? Everything I can find keeps linking back a single podcast. I can't even find his denial anywhere else. Which, given that it's been a week, seems odd. I'd expect other news orgs to talk to the women, him to release a statement, etc.

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

VRA got repealed. And to fight any of that, we need either a Dem Supreme Court or a Dem Congress willing to fight. So excuse me for being sick and tired of watching national Dems go "Our majority isn't large enough, vote harder."

And every election the Texas GOP changes the rules to make things harder. They just passed a law so the governor appoints judges for cities instead of letting the cities elect them, specifically because Dems were winning those races. The gerrymandering is getting worse, not better.

How big a margin do the Dems expect us to give them? The HoR and Senate are both rigged as hell. They either figure out how to operate with razor-thin margins or they keep losing on key issues because Rs work every aspect of the problem and Ds don't.

Biden is better than Trump, sure. But lots of his accomplishments are just waiting for a court case to tear them down. And he has proven remarkably blind to that fact, especially given how this court keeps pushing the actual decisions until after the election.

I'm in Texas, so good fucking luck. My house district is gerrymandered to hell, and any time it looks like a dem might win something the state changes the rules to make it harder. National dems have to fix things BEFORE we can give them more than razor-thin victories.

I've said it before, this is probably the best Pope it's possible to have. He's still awful on a lot of things, but given the requirements of the job, I find myself on his side a lot. Also, HAHA. So many Catholics are forgetting what they signed up for with their religion.

In the foreword to the map of Ankh Morpork, the writer tells a story about Pratchett saying the first question to ask when designing a fantasy city is "How does the clean water get in and sewage come out?" What I have since realised is this also applies to designing aliens and fantasy creatures.
