Kryptonians have a patriarchal naming structure where men inherit their fathers’ surnames, while women inherent their fathers’ full names. So Kal-El’s mother, for example, Lara Lor-Van, is the daughter of Lor-Van. If Kal-El had been born a girl, he’d have been Kal Jor-El.

Very little Pre-Crisis, apart from Sivana’s mad science being more fantastical than Luthor’s (which wasn’t exactly grounded itself, either). Post-Crisis, Luthor’s more of a social manipulator type while Sivana has stuck to super science. (And more recently, super archaeology.)

Americans love a candidate who promises something new. One candidate promises to become a dictator, establish concentration camps, and mass deportations. The other promises improve infrastructure, reduce healthcare costs, support reproductive rights. Can either claim the mantle of change?

Whenever I start wallowing in despair due to current events, I remind myself that I wrote two comics about how cool being trans is, book on queer superheroes, and a character study on the difficulties of moving past trauma, all of which were published by the Superman people. So, it's not all bad.

I'm at the point where I won't consider it groundbreaking or brave until we get a similar scene with a m/m couple in animation. That's NOT played for laughs. This is the only real rep seen in animation, and it's been like that for years now. Background dads don't count, either.

Watching the old, old Siskel/Ebert shows on YouTube (like late '70s/early '80s era, when I originally started watching them) and man I miss those guys. Taught little kid me how to engage with material and think about why I liked or didn't like it, rather than just have knee-jerk reactions.

Call me nuts, but I legitimately think that My Adventures with Superman moved from the Cartoon Network brand to Adult Swim brand because of LGBT+ elements. Last week's episode actually contained a romantic kiss between two ladies. CN has been trying to shy away from those elements globally too.

I just don’t get what the “I can’t bring myself to vote for Biden” people think will happen if their plan comes to fruition. None of them seem to care about The Revolution beyond abstraction, much less have an alternative system to promote. I don’t even see leftists advocating for the Green Party!
