‘Starmer scraps Rwanda policy’ But I was told Starmer’s Labour and the Tories are the same. It’s almost as if anyone saying that is some kind of cretinous buffoon, so emotionally hung up on not getting their precisely exact perfect version of Labour, they dismiss anything else as being Tory. Huh.

I’ve only just realised: Fabricant lost his seat! Oh happy, happy day. His presence in the Commons was a daily affront to everything we hold decent. Jog on, you malignant ridiculous gnome.

The new government’s attitude to the slow-burn destruction of the BBC is going to be really interesting. As is the position of the avowedly right-wing DG.

Potential use for AI which might be actually beneficial - generating a real-time number for 'media coverage' of politicians that everyone can see and can be used to hold to account those who book interviews and commission features. The algorithm would be complicated but isn't that what AI is for?

Yep. Still think this is the high watermark of the Farage grift. But those poor folk in Clacton, Gt Yarmouth, Boston and Ashfield are still living through the con.

Also, enough with this 'rise of the populists' bollocks. That 'around 4 million people will always vote for the anti-immigration party' looks pretty solid to me. And it's well under 10% of the electorate.

UKIP votes 2015: 3.8 million, 0 seats Reform votes 2024: 4.1 million, 4 seats Green votes 2015: 1.2 million, 1 seat Green votes 2024: 1.9 million, 4 seats Still two seats to report - but one of these blocs is up 8%, one is up 58%. Can we be a bit more grown up about where the story is?

Farage and Reform will soon be pushing for proportional representation. For that to happen, there will have to be a referendum. But we had a referendum in 2011 and PR was rejected. If he wants another referendum on the voting system, why can't we have another one on Brexit?

Amazing night of course but I’m afraid the image that will stay with me is of Richard Tice, in his expensive suit, standing among the oddly sad-looking candidates of Boston, enjoying the fact that his grift continues. All those poor people - Boston, Gt Yarmouth, Clayton, Ashfield. Played again.

Everything we’ve seen suggests the exit poll is underestimating the scale of Labour and Liberal Democrat gains and electoral efficiency, and overestimating Reform and the Conservatives.

So @andrewmale.bsky.social was waxing lyrical about a show called Evil which I’d never heard of so I bought the first episode and was loving it and then the title sequence came up 15 mins in and it’s by MICHELLE AND ROBERT KING. So of COURSE it’s amazing. Thank you Andrew.

Miro makes me feel old, in that I know how powerful it is and should be but I've never found the time to put in and learn it properly, so it always feels alien to me. Totally my fault, of course.

Realistically I think you should probably expect that a third of the parliament of any European country are likely to be insane people from now on. The goal is to keep that the ceiling. This may be pessimistic but this is linked to that being the proportion of our citizens which are insane

I don’t know what offends me more about Letts: his bilious poisoning of discourse, or his banal lack of anything approaching talent. It’s a heady mix. And thanks to loony right newspaper editors and owners it’s made him a fortune.
