Reminded me when I worked security (back in the 80's), we'd get guys who wanted to be cops but couldn't get hired. You'd find out in a day or so why including the one who decided to bring his own gun when told we didn't carry. He was gone that day.

We will have returned to health when we accept that almost nobody should own or carry a gun, including cops. The reason to own a gun is to kill. There are few reasons for that in a healthy society and they almost exclusively involve “getting dinner.” I got no beef with subsistence hunters.
