The fundamental challenge with Trump: this is so on-brand for him that it barely qualifies as news to his supporters or detractors. He plays by different rules - which is both unfair and a reality anyone running against him has to confront.

On brief glance, I don’t see PBS NewsHour - which should be the gold standard in TV news- mentioned; but I sadly recall them being led around by the nose as well- and to this day, they’ve never done a reassessment, or admitted it; & they still both-sides things way too much.

This is especially galling because the actual context of "deplorables" was her urging an audience of snooty liberals to have *empathy* for Trump supporters. Her point was that they're not all bad! But it got covered as exactly the opposite. I know it's been years but I'm going to die on this hill.
