I agree that Harris has significant weaknesses as a politician but this is an incredibly ugly way to put it. Also: A centrist candidate choosing another centrist as his running mate — still not the left's fault! Leftists hate Harris, that's actually one of her weaknesses.

Does he say who made the part pick someone from ‘favored demographic categories’? Or is it just left unsaid that there’s some powerful progressive group of voters who had to be placated? It’s a very muddled piece that seems to throw the k-hive and the bernie bros into one bad group.

Is he being surprised that a VP was chosen to achieve specific political goals? At the end of the day every VP is a DEI pick because there are no qualifications and the whole point is to achieve some political benefit. Biden certainly was chosen for his race.
