Did I just hear a Tory say it’s a shame Labour didn’t go along with privatising the NHS because it meant the Tories had to run it into the ground to encourage privatisation so Labour will have to use the private sector to reduce waiting lists so the waiting lists are basically all Labour’s fault?

"I spent a lot of money in that CVS, often multiple times a week, week after week, for years. If I wasn’t their very best customer on the consumer good side, I would like to meet my competition. And they drove me away, while providing me no mechanism to tell them why." itself.blog/2024/06/15/w...

If you're in the UK, reading the press coverage of the general election, and thinking 'yay, it's going to be like 1997 on Friday', take a moment to remember 1992. If you don't recall, find someone who does. Go out and vote tomorrow. Every vote matters. Tell your friends and get them voting too!

Trans people's gender is no less 'natural' than cis people's gender identity. If you have to use the power of the state to coerce people into conforming to gender norms, you are making a loud admission that you do not, in fact, believe that assigned gender is a fact of nature.

because of a technical fault with the baggage handling system at the other end (Heathrow) which will result in having to toss about £20 worth of Italian food intended for my fridge 😭😭😭😭😭

So my last three flights with British Airways have involved a technical fault causing an hour delay getting my priority checked luggage, a 45-minute delay because they forgot to change the wheels, and a 1.5 hour delay and counting plus being told my checked luggage will be delayed even longer

If they make the trillions from an economy in which nobody else can make it, it’s already dystopian for everyone but them.

If you find an out of copyright book on Google Books, that they have a scan of but aren't making fully available, use this form to ask them to release it:

support.google.com/websearch/an...

It's simple, gets results, and enriches the #PublicDomain

I hate it when people say “they’ve never let their disability slow them down” as if disabled people are just choosing to be lazy on certain days and that there’s better disabled people out there who can just choose whether or not to be slow a certain day this is asshole talk I don’t like it

First of all, has a person ever looked more mischievous? I wish I knew her. Secondly, this is a miniature portrait from around 1660. It comes with overlays that allow you to change her appearance for fun. Filters from 500 years ago lol!

Strange women distributing swords is apparently the basis for a system of government nowadays, so at least it's thematically consistent.

You awaken in a filthy pit with little more than a rusty dagger at your belt and the rags on your back. Dark passages stretch to the east and west. A metal grate has just been closed overhead with a heavy clank. The guards above laugh and exchange bets on your lifespan. What do you do?
