Both abortion cases were punts, not vindications. You do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to the Supreme Court

Still marveling at Gorsuch's Ohio v. EPA opinion, in which he confused nitrogen oxide (a pollutant) with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). He did this five times, never once getting it right—in an opinion overruling the EPA's own expert scientific analysis! s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24...

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

I know they get rolled all the time but for the Times to get rolled by “actually they just want to reclaim the values of Western civilization as they see it … with larger families and fewer immigrants” is the Times putting the 14 words in the paper

With Trump off Twitter and speaking just to his most diehard fans by tin can and Truth Social, most people have no idea or have blocked out what a--pardon my English--bloody maniac he is. They don't get that he will replace the government with, essentially, Proud Boy suck-ups who learned to blog.

Not to be corny but I do think the ongoing aspiration to make America a pluralist democracy of equals is righteous, beautiful, and worth honoring, even if it has more often been the struggle of minorities & dissenters than the policy of the government. 🇺🇸

SCOTUS has granted trump, and trump specifically, a kingdom. this isn’t even in question. if trump wins, or trump seizes the presidency, we — all of us, you and i and everyone we know — we live in a different country that we do not know and will have to learn how to understand.

The only reason I refrain from calling bullshit is that I am nigh on 60 now and I've met a lot of really stupid people in positions of authority. Positions that they shouldn't have. Just because my dumbass coach made me hydrate doesn't mean there isn't a dumbass coach who does the opposite.

Yeah, I played in SATX back when salt pills were still a thing (pre-sports-drink era.) Coaches were tough, but they made us drink water. Controlled so we wouldn't puke it right back up, but we had to drink water.

I was an inside linebacker in HS in TX (this was before water was considered 'woke' by coaches, so I was properly hydrated. I just had multiple concussions.) Both my kids do/did performing arts in HS (not in TX.) And I 100% agree with you. I am so fucking proud of them.

The one constant in my conversations about “Project 2025” is that almost everyone is taken aback by what’s in these plans, even people who really pay attention to politics - if not by how radical it is, then by how far-reaching, detailed, and aggressively explicit it is.

these things aren’t just embarrassing for the owner, they’re a danger to everyone else on the road, but even if it were only the former, dropping $100K on a vehicle that becomes undrivable within 24 hours and takes a year to repair is not a product which should be sellable by any american company

The main reason I've never bought into "Fully Automated Luxury Communism" is that reproductive labor is basically impossible to automate but the other flaw is capital will invent entirely new means of exploitation before it concedes the need for things like guaranteed income
