Gymnocalycium. Red and black succulents. Are these real? I suspect the image on the left is fake. The variant on the right appears to be real. I've seen it elsewhere under different names, as if there's a taxonomy controversy at play here. Check the Alt text on both images for plant nerdery. ;) 🌱

Top of the morning everyone. British summer continues to be cool and wet with everything growing lushly but slowly. The alpines are flowering their heads off though so my #SixonSaturday features stonecrops, house leeks and iceplants. Have a good weekend folks. 🌱

Back garden, have abandoned most of my cacti and succulents to the outdoors for the 'summer' trusting the terracotta pots and free draining soil will help them deal with all the rain. 🌱

I was pleasantly surprised to see my first ever native wild orchid this afternoon in Heaton Park, Manchester. A common spotted orchid. Not in a special wildflower meadow or anything either, growing out of a grass verge near a carpark! #WildflowerHour 🌱
