Happy Disability Pride Month. I'm Roxi. I have extremely severe scoliosis, my spine is shaped like an S, I have chronic pain and fatigue, I'm neurodivergent, I'm allergic to basically everything, I have Celiac disease & every day, I fight like hell to keep existing. I'm glad I'm still here.
Nice to meet you ๐ค
I'm Yarrow (they/he). I was born without any recognizable sex organs, and my lower spine never properly fused. My legs are two different lengths, I've got shitty fine motor coordination, my brain keeps trying to kill me, and I cough too much ๐
Very glad you are here. My mom had fairly severe scoliosis. Unfortunately for her the cure was worse than the problem in the 80s. I inherited a slight case from her. Mostly reflects as knee issues from an odd walking gait for me. Always wondered why her idiot doctors put her through hell to fix it.
Bravest of the brave. I am always filled with wonder at how people who live in constant pain & ill health are so feisty & so resolute about not letting it define them or prevent them from doing stuff.
I know I wouldnโt be capable of such courage.
Thanks for sharing and for getting others to share. Sharing and caring. (My ex had the rod surgery. She's older than you. I hope what her doctors are learning from her generation with the S will help you eventually.)
