Rereading McKillip's In the Forests of Serre. I think I'll be wandering through other of my McKillips over the summer. Listening to "Ben Macallan's" Desdaemona and Pandaemonium, which will probably lead me back to reading or listening to Brenchley's Dead of Light and Light Errant again.

Good morning Womble! I’m re-reading Reeve of Veils by AK Faulkner and am about to start a re-read of A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire, both for a multi-part essay I’m writing about the structure of long series.
I’m reading Fourth Wing, and I’d not realised it was YA so having to reset my expectations. (I tried to ignore the hype and controversy, but somehow got it in my head it was epic fantasy)
It’s, fine… But I’m already bored of the MC describing how “fucking hot” every other male character is.

Just finishing up a 1941 Perry Mason story, “The Case of the Haunted Husband.” We’ve been reading Erle Stanley Gardner’s P. Mason books in order and it’s like opening a time capsule.
Morning Womble, I'm having a pretty stressful June, so I'm doing a comfort re-read of Sherlock Holmes and the Rosetta Stone Mystery by Linda Stratmann. I may keep working my way through all of her Holmes books, as I recently bought but haven't read the most recent.
Hello Womble, for something different I'm reading with hubby (ie I read out loud and he listens) A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, beautifully written and very enjoyable.
Morning! I have SM from the library to start this week. I have reread Runemarks by Joanne M. Harris. Harris embodies Loki in twists and turns in this prophetic tale of a young girl and her one-eyed friend. I hope more people discover it. The reread was so I could read the equal Runelight.

Recently started FLAME AND CRIMSON, Brian Murphy’s history of the sword & sorcery genre.
It came highly recommended, and has so far been both interesting and informative - a tough balancing act for literary history/criticism.
Belatedly, I’m just about to start on the revised edition of @marthawells.bsky.social City of Bones. I am a great fan of Murderbot - but isn’t everyone!?

Morning, have finished The Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism by @georgemonbiot.bsky.social and Peter Hutchison. Such an important, relevant and accessible read. Starting Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio.
I am re-reading The Lord of the Rings and loving it. I’ve left it just long enough that’s it doesn’t feel overly familiar with the added fun spotting all the titbits of history that play into the new spin off series they have in production or development. And we’re only as far as Rivendell :)
Had to force myself yesterday to stop reading Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, or I'd risk missing my stop on the train. No such issues ahead this afternoon, hurrah!

Good day, Womble. I am trying to finish too many books before the end of the month. The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera, Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes, A Touch of Strange by Theodore Sturgeon, and the audio for Out There Screaming edited by Jordan Peele and John Joseph Adams.
I couldn't resist. I spent the week finishing Brian Catling's Vorrh trilogy.
The Cloven pulls a strange switch where the background swamps the lead characters from the previous 2 books, pulling the scale into something bordering on infinite apocalypse.
It's such a wild, uneasy, unique series.
