Safety is core to social media. Transparency is essential to building trust in moderation efforts, and the data we are providing here is a first step towards full transparency reports. We hope this provides some visibility, and we intend to deliver more granular data and reporting in the future.
I disagree with this somewhat. I agree that moderating for illegal content is necessary. However, I came here looking for a platform, not a publisher. Content moderation is not free speech.
I’ve been moderating for free for years and you privileging respectability politics over enforcing against genuine discrimination is pathetic. You step in when you shouldn’t and you leave hate to broadcast in all directions. Grow a pair.
I really wish that BlueSky didn't promote users with some of the most inflammatory rhetoric via the 'Discover' feed, which is still showing our feed, even if we removed the list. I don't understand why toxic political dialogue has to be part of that feed. It's awful. That's not helping the situation
i saw a lot posts from people who are being harassed non-stop, the people who were being harassed reported them and nothing has been done.
it escalated into real world physical violence due to the people being doxxed on here on bluesky by the harassers, your moderation team are not doing their job
Not remotely good enough.
Moderation on threats and repeated harassment is dangerously lax. Not safe enough for a lot of users.
Mute terms are needed asap.
3rd party tools have had that feature for a while now.
Mute terms help reduce conflict between users and increase time spent.
Please focus on accounts that are created to troll. Trolling will escalate to real life harassment, threats, and stalking. These are the accounts that create division drama and are often state sponsored.
I hope these moderators will protect people from harassment and not just "moderate" discussion. There are many people who are still hesitant to use social media because of privacy issues. I hope the work scope of moderators will be to look out for dangerous people and there is a reporting system.
So what is your moderation work if someone tells me twice to kill myself. I reported them twice. They're still here.
You never update a person who reports another user, but I already know you've done nothing at all.
Have you read your own ToS?
Good stuff.
Strong agree on community notes tools & I hope you include the user rating function so we can all earn our 'moderator credits' & trusted users can help you keep the place tidy & take out the trash.
Hard pass on 'lists' way to open to abuse, as you mentioned.
Meme for the mod team...
Thank you for this pleasant and, compared to others, very civilised platform as far as the German-speaking world is concerned. Bluesky fills an important gap between Threads, X, Mastodon, Instagram and Facebook.
Less bullshit, less disinformation, fewer trolls and Nazis. 💜🩵🦋
you deleted a post that was literally just a wkyk skit with the words changed to be about your unevenly applied TOS and didnt even bother responding to the appeal i sent pointing that out.
thank you! it's so disheartening to see so much transphobia everywhere these days i'm hopeful that bluesky can become one place i can go to without being inundated with hate and just live my life!
Can I ask when are you rolling out a mute function? The ability to chose if/when certain topics and words are in your feed (or face) is a core safety feature lacking here atm. Thx
“Safety is core to social media, which is why we don’t punish chuds for advocating sending marginalized people to camps (among other things) but do ban said marginalized people if they react strongly & negatively to such behavior ☺️”
On Twitter people hide behind private accounts to do some very gross & illegal stuff. I think it's safer not to have them. Blocking is fine. There are lots of other apps to have private conversations among friends.
You need to offer I.P. blocks to stop harassment. Someone can be blocked, and they simply delete their account, open a new account and start harassing all over again. You have a lot of work to do.
♥️♥️♥️
What a change compared to a competitor in which almost all reports on anti-Semitic posts gets a "No that's fine we don't see any issue" answer 😑
Do you believe that it is safe to censure people for saying "obliterate [this transphobe]" or "take a long walk off a short pier" but to leave up the litanies of vile and abusive things that minorities deal with?
TWAT TWITTER X should have SAFETY to! But nooooooooooooooooooooo! Twitter TWAT is a playground for bullies and drug users and scammers. Twitter X has gone down the shitter for a very long. Never improves.
R.I.P to Twitter X. BLUE SKY SOCIAL FOREVER
Sorry if I don't take your words at face value when nazi accounts like end wokeness are allowed to remain on the platform.
Also, to echo the chorus, prioritize private accounts. I've already seen, firsthand, someone on here have to deal with a stalker violating a restraining order.
private accounts are critical considering how open to abuse the list functionality is and how reactive moderation is as a concept.
users should feel safe posting with mutuals and close friends and right now this isn't the case at all
