SCOOTIE!! 🤯 😅 Some birds are known for doing this - reducing pests and parasites by laying down, wings spread out, tail and head on the ground. The key is that the ground, in this case small gravel, needs to be hot. This ‘bakes out’ the pests from the feathers. I’ve seen previous ‘runners do it 🪶

I think the reason Philip K Dick is still the predominant SF writer of the last century is, he was the only one who foresaw a future where everything would be boring, inconvenient and dehumanising, and where the only way you can win is to somehow refuse to give up your humanity.

It's recycling day, so I was breaking down boxes, and one in the carport has been there a while. When I picked it up, out came 6-7 very tiny geckos. Didn't have phone, so I'm stealing a pic from the Internet that most closely matches. I put the box back as a gecko nursery. (📷: Pieter Maurits)

Here is a micro wasp @apsciencebydan.bsky.social found today. Imagine a small ant then think smaller. Now imagine it running up and down thin strands of wire grass and pine straw. They're hard to spot and harder to track. I got lucky she stopped for a few seconds. 🐙🌿🧪
