Please, fellow US voters, read the most to-the-point writing I've found so far on the election. (And no, I am not a fan of Biden, or Dems, or liberalism, or the Gazan genocide.) www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Part of what’s happening with the Biden political media freakout is about power to act.
Journalists have felt feeble and useless during the Trump era. They write their usual articles about Trump and it has little effect on his approval. Not so with Biden.
A hill I will die on: all white-collar crimes are violent crimes.
It's just that the violence is removed from the perpetrator because the perpetrator is wealthy.
If Biden said something like this it would spell the end of not only his campaign but his current tenure. It's just one of countless examples of insane gibberish from Trump that the press & Democrats are choosing to treat as an immutable part of the electoral landscape rather than a story or issue.
Donald Trump has good days and bad days but increasingly only bad days. He's lost it - he can't focus and his brains are leaking out his ears, but the press is very impressed with him because HE CAN STILL SHOUT
Happy #primeweek! I just want to let y’all know that the Amazon shipping warehouse where my husband works is denying workers fans during a nationally recognized heat emergency and everything you order during time week places workers’ lives at risk.
I think my whole life I've been waiting to step into a gritty little bar and have the bartender raise a series of blinds to reveal an explanation of the story thus far
Not everything needs a segue. If you're struggling to make a smooth transition from point A to point B, maybe you should leave out the transition and just jump. The reader will follow you. Readers are used to jump cuts in TV and movies, and are nimbler than you think.
The pro-Israel lobbying aside it is a little weird that Biden, Jeffries etc. are okay with an organization that gives tens of millions of dollars to Republicans who helped Trump attempt a putsch being involved in Democratic primaries.
if there’s any issue on which “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good” applies to Biden it’s climate - the IRA has been a tremendous success beyond all expectations and the news on the renewable energy front is excellent
depressing to see it lumped in with issues on which he’s actually bad
Sure, but it's not a policy position. I may be misunderstanding your use of the word 'position'; you may mean it in a tactical sense, the spot he currently occupies on the board.
It's way past time to stop pretending Trump has any position on abortion at all. He doesn't care. He'll say whatever will get him elected and keep him out of prison. Trump hates brown people and immigrants and taxes, and aside from that, has no policy positions at all
Since last October, Israel has dropped over 70,000 tons of bombs in the Gaza Strip, exceeding the combined totals dropped on Dresden, Hamburg, and London during World War II.
Libraries are one of the most radical social institutions we have, because they’re based on the idea that *everyone* has the right to information, for free. It’s also what makes them crucial to democracy. I will never stop yelling about this!
“I proudly know nothing about the matter, but I will nevertheless weigh in to scold both sides for being so extreme” not only gives you about all you need to know about Friedersdorf - it’s also the pure essence of vacuous, arrogant centrist punditry. A piece of art.
