if it's not clear what the Dem party plan is to protect vulnerable communities from whatever's coming, just peep their COVID policy to get a good sense of things.

Instead of using the new king powers to prevent the fascism immediately, joe biden is going on tv to try and prove to voters he doesn't need to wear a diaper, so they'll vote for him, so, I'm led to presume, he can prevent the fascism

Prior to the upcoming Dem Party Convention in Chicago the DNC and FBI held a press conference where they announced that peaceful assembly would not covered by Constitutional protections. I mean. Come on.

I'm confused by the assertion that calling Dem senators / letter writing campaigns will result in anything other than Dems ignoring it. For sits ins and marches Dems will call participants terrorists and unleash state violence. *We literally just experienced this*.

I see precisely the same justifications for Labour's rightward lurch from Labour voters that I saw from 90s era Dems, and the same sunk cost fallacy delusion already is setting in. Labour has made explicit they will NOT swing back left and so many of their voters are actively disassociating.

Very few people who makes "mistakes" that benefit capital ever suffer. No one who is correct in a way that would harm capital ever prospers. It sucks.

Looking forward to Biden's flag bedecked, semi-incoherent post-victory concession speech about the urgency of pacifically respecting the Supreme Court's decision to hand Trump the presidency. And that even though Biden won the EC, Biden is not a king and will of course be stepping down.

As a leftist, every time we're proved right our credibility diminishes. Every time a centrist/right-winger is proved wrong their credibility burnishes.

If the US had any authentic leftist organization / threat from the left the Democrats might do that, but since the state mechanisms to suppress the left are so fucking effective there's no sustained threat from that quarter and so Dem efforts at this pretense are at best half-hearted.

Their only issue with Trump is that when Trump and his close associates closed ranks they were locked out in the cold and could not gorge from the trough. That's it. That's their beef with him.

The Lincoln Project people are strictly political mercenaries for hire. They'll do anything for anyone, so long as they're paid. If Trump offered them more tomorrow, they'd switch to Trump.

The Lincoln Project exists for literally one reason & one reason alone- to get cash and clout for the people running the Lincoln Project. It exists because they were run out of the GOP. Anyone who actually attention to anything they say should be taken into protective custody for their own safety

Good point. Long country walks and camping? Hells yes! My main issue with Tolkien is that he was Profoundly Catholic and his world building was basically a giant prison made by God. I found it oppressive and depressing. An immutable hierarchy one could not escape in eternal life nor death.

True. Yet in practice they need those huge wins in order to carry the small margins in vital districts. It'd help if Dems even ran candidates in place they don't traditionally win. Which they often refuse to do. Or passed legislation to help populations they've long since abandoned. Which...nope.

HRC won the popular vote by 2,900,000 votes but still lost the 2016 election. It's not enough for Democrats to eke out a win, they must win by BIG margins. Not only is Biden down, he's HUGELY behind. A sober response to this grim reality is not a dismissively condescending 'bored now'.

A broad coalition of Dem voters have voiced this concern for several years now. The only difference to now is that this is the first time the media is seriously entertaining it and also the first time that the Dem Party itself is responding with anything other than derision and contempt.
