Like, it makes (some) sense if they're writing personal non-fiction, but otherwise, I'd really rather not know the race or gender of the person I'm reading, because then it takes away from the experience of reading itself.

A conspiracy theory I believe in is that in 10, 20 years or so, we're going to find out that either Trump or people backing him had leverage over a lot of people in media and a lot of the R politicians who initially opposed him. Whether it's bribes or blackmail or both, I have no idea.
