My Take is that the flurry of vocal American Catholic converts aren't actually Roman Catholic but are an Evangelical offshoot. They have no interest in what the Church believes. Instead they care about what they think the Church should believe.

Kansas- KANSAS- rejected a referendum to make abortion illegal by a 60-40 margin. R's have done piss-poor in every major election since Dobbs. Even their wins were kind of losses. A sundowning, pro-Israel Prez is a problem but voters have already shown where they stand on the fascism issues.

Counterpoint (with maybe some wishful thinking): if Trump dies tomorrow, the GOP is fucking licked, maybe for good. Who's their next candidate? Literally no one. I get that there's a court that will continue to give the minority party power but that breaks without the cult behind it.

*Getting on my soapbox again* Unlike most western nations, the primary divide in the US is racial. This is due to both the obvious racial history of the country as well as the promise of The American Dream. A poor white person is going to relate to a rich white person over a poor POC.

But even if you are trying to "trip it up" or whatever... That it spits out bad information in that situation is still BAD. Their response to this shit is "well it works 99.9% of the time" and a 1 in 1000 failure rate on trillions of searches is devastating for our society.
