Just heard that Michael Zulli passed away. Michael and I worked on a number of projects together in the late 90s/early 2000s. He wasn't just a brilliant artist, he was a brilliant man: deep, passionate, philosophical. Condolences to his family. Safe travels, Michael.

I'd read after the Lucasfilm sale to Disney, or maybe after Episode III came out, he said he wanted to make weird experimental films that no one would like. I hope he's been doing that and that we can eventually see them! Otherwise, I think the last time he got behind a camera was Red Tails reshoots

I'm not an expert, but have heard when times are hard, starving populations will eat cats, euphemistically called "roof rabbits". When bad times faded back to good, cats slunk off the menu. The Wiki article isn't as a good a source as the OFD, but it's an eyeopener.

100 years ago the Twin Cities were among the top railway centers in the US. Today the only passenger stations are NorthStar commuter in Minneapolis and Amtrak at St Paul Union Depot. Let's visit all the lost train stations, starting with downtown Minneapolis. There were 15! 🧵

A World Undone is great! Loved Meyer's alternating chapters with side stories for a fuller picture. I just started reading his follow-up The World Remade, about the USA before, during and after WWI.
