One of my favorite tactics when I was doing debates for college was to just dump so much baffling bullshit on my opponent that they didn't know how to respond. And using true, logical arguments, or at least convincing equivocations, to do so.

Yep. I figured that out over thirty years ago, when my high school debate coach told me that if I was more interested in finding the right answer based on facts than I was in cherry-picking or making up facts to defend my own answer, maybe debate wasn't for me.

I want to see a courtroom debate. Under oath. Perjury on the line. Moderators are partisan representatives who ask questions and cross-examine. Judge keeps them on track. Even allow evidence. "I never said that." "Roll tape." Give me THAT debate. Grill them for a week straight.

It’s a little more complicated than that, but only a little. “Lying loudly with confidence” is a better strategy than “mumbling the truth incoherently” would be closer to the mark for tonight I think (although I agree with your original point)
