This is where: An 8-meter-long radioactive graphite trash can, called a beam dump.

I heard all the fireworks last night and assumed this was what a war zone or impact event apocalypse would sound like. Itβs really no surprise that it frightens PTSD survivors and animals. After all, if one listens to the national anthem, are bombs not what the fireworks are simulating?

Electrons. Thatβs the choice particle for light source accelerators such as the NSLS II. Electron beams are easy to generate, and the particleβs lower mass means it generates far more light in the machine than something heavier like protons.
