At the weekend we saw over 20,000 people from all walks of life demonstrating that they do not want this bill to be passed. The hubris and nonchalant attitude towards our people and the environment is breathtaking.

I will never understand why we run a vital emergency service as some outsourced semi-charity?! Imagine seeing Facebook ads from the police wanting to fundraise for police stations. Nationalise the fucking ambulances!

Cannot stress how much this will fuck social services in New Zealand. These organisations are setup with a profit incentive to deliver results, and having worked at many corporations, all of them commit fraud to reach their KPIs.

Under the Education and Training Act 2020 NZ universities are required to act as 'a critic and conscience of society'. A senior government minister publicly announcing plans for retribution against an academic because they don't like the opinions expressed by them is deeply troubling and sinister.

Full solidarity with Prof. Kidman and Prof. Te Morenga. It's the government who should be apologising - to all of us! - for their populist, non-evidence based, and frankly cruel policies. Not the brave academics being bullied for calling them out.

North Gaza: "1 in 6 children under 2 years of age are acutely malnourished" I can't emphasize enough how much worse this war is than *anything* we have seen in recent memory, how quickly conditions deteriorated, and how comprehensive the humanitarian crisis is.

This is an excellent article from Susan St John about National's dehumanising treatment of beneficiaries since 1991. I suspect with Act's encouragement they will be even more draconian than before.

Live animal export lobbyist on RNZ this morning actually saying out loud that animals do better on a long boat ride to death than they do in normal living conditions? Which is why they must throw $1mill at getting the practice allowed again.

Scrapping Clean Car Discount will cost twice what it saves - this advice was not presented to the new govt because "because the new government suspended the need for regulatory impact statements for undoing Labour-era policies." I didn't know my contempt for this govt actions could get more intense
