The Jonothan Pie "new day in Westminster" makes me think of the Saturday Night Live "'One Day More' of President Trump": the sense of joy at a hated arsehole being kicked out. Hopefully in the UK the arseholes stay out for a bit longer than they have in the US.

If nothing else, it has caused a huge problem with trust and democratic participation. Why would anyone—teachers, scientists, etc—put in all those extra hours again in future when their work can be thrown out so easily?

Something big we haven’t fully processed or reflected on is the massive amount of time and effort people around NZ have contributed towards long term curriculum changes, science system changes and local govt reforms, amongst others. All rejected by current govt. The deep engagement meant nothing.

Starmer got less votes today than Corbyn did in the "disaster" of 2019, which Labour have given up absolutely every principle to avoid repeating. This wasn't a Labour win, it was a Conservative loss. Remember that for next time.

First Past the Post has given Starmer such brainworms that he thinks this landslide is bc of something he did, rather than catastrophic collapse of the Tories into a party so incapable of governing that one of their prevous PMs tanked the economy within a fornight & was outlasted by a lettuce

Every Starmer bot praising Keir for 'changing' the Labour Party annoys me, simply because he changed the Labour party into the Tory party, policy wise. They're going to try low key austerity, low key support for Israel, and low key isolationism. It's not a vote for change except for the personnel.

When 36% is a landslide, and a 4% increase in vote share gives you 200 more seats (and twice as many as last time), something is fucked with your electoral system. And then the media establishment paints this is _voters_ being volatile. The UK needs proportional representation.
