In great news: heroic scenes at Auckland Council, with a near-unanimous pushback against this indefensible government overreach on local streets. 🙌 Including a strengthened response on safe speeds around schools (carried by a casting vote!). Very very grateful for the integrity on display today. 🙏🥰

I was curious re changes in the gap between the Living Wage & the Minimum Wage... The sharp turn was last year - even though the min wage jumped up (nominally) by more than previous. This year is different, as the annual change graph shows. Min wage increase was only half even MBIE's recommendation.

Your piece got me thinking about equivalents... eg if Destiny was threatening Rotary meetings or Remuera bridge club meetings or a drink at the golf course, to the point safety couldn't be guaranteed and they were cancelled, what would be the blowback?

It’s important to speak up against transphobia, not because you might change the hearts and minds of bigots, but to signal to them and everyone else in the room that their bigotry is not tolerated *and* yo be in solidarity with any trans folks or loved ones of trans folks who might be in the room.
