100s of words about character and morals but only vague, brief reference to fact that Trump is adjudicated sexual assailant - rapist, in lay terms - w/ other credible allegations & settlements of sex crimes. The mostly male punditry, like GOP, has collectively decided that rape isn't disqualifying.

For reasons I do not understand, most of the mainstream press reported that Trump “softened” the gop position on abortion based on a platform that declares abortion should be illegal in all 50 states www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

It's been a 5-year process, and none of our 6 neighbors has used any gas since at least March — we cut our own gas line 4 years ago — but tomorrow's the day: ConEd will come to remove the gas meters in our 200-year-old coop once and for all.

Jaw-dropping. Steal text, mimic writer's identities and credibility, swap in false author photos, and garble OG text with AI. “What’s worse than not having a good archive of my work is having one that is bastardized with my name but not my face and not my words on it.” – Christina Warren

Full quote from ex-ICE director Tom Homan: "Trump comes back in January... I will run the biggest deportation force this country has ever seen. They ain’t seen shit yet. Wait until 2025.” Tonight in Florida Trump pledged to bring Homan back. Homan, BTW, is a listed Project 2025 contributor.

WTF. The electric company in Texas doesn't have a map of outages so people have been using the Whataburger App to figure out who lost power. This is like when Homer was using the Krusty Burger map when they got lost at sea.

California will fail to reach its legally-required GHG reduction targets unless we reduce traffic by about a third. Fortunately, that is very, very possible to do: we just have to make our government actually want to do it.

Same day we get a story about a new smelter for the aluminum industry, we get another about a former smelter site being used for titanium production using....solar plus storage. This is the future of industrial power generation. Why leave your company's health up to the volatile gas industry?

Really excellent piece on insurance rates and regulation: "Higher premiums are being charged in states where regulators apply less scrutiny to requests for rate increases, compared with states where officials question the justifications offered by companies and try to keep rates low"

You may have heard of the bad stuff in the right-wing Project 2025 plan such as banning abortion, ending LGBTQ rights, privatizing Medicare. There's also bad city planning in it, such as defunding mass transit, "oppose any efforts to weaken single-family zoning", and being against bike lanes.

American public transit will never compete with cars on convenience until we stop forcing every home and business to provide copious amounts of free parking, which spreads out destinations to the point that transit isn’t scalable and makes walking profoundly unpleasant.

Hey folks who added me from @costasamaras.bsky.social’s climate starter pack. I work on solutions to feed 10 billion people by 2050 in ways that are beneficial for people, nature, and climate. This includes changing how we grow food & also changing food consumption patterns. I like data and nuance.
