Eric Levitz makes a similar argument: leaders on the left have failed to condemn mass murder in ways that are morally and politically unwise.

There is zero contradiction between condemning mass murder and condemning the occupation. Zero.

I think might be hard for other folks to understand the community-wide trauma Jews are feeling in relation to the Hamas attacks. It’s because the phrase “existential threat” is not a euphemism for us. For us, it means exactly what the words imply.

Dismayed, to say the least, by some of the “this is what resistance looks like!” perspectives from others on the left. It was a pogrom. I’m not a Zionist, and Israel has recently done terrible things. But some are losing all moral perspective.

3. Pierce also seems to make much out of the FTC's defeats. He does so without acknowledging the possibility that maybe, just maybe, the fed cts today are regularly churning out unhinged and unprincipled opinions--not to mention, for those who care, out of step w majoritarian preferences.

Awesome news, though baffled why it's going to take nearly 3 years to implement. If there's a covered entity so small or financially crushed that it can't immediately re-designate one of its restrooms gender neutral, allow that entity a temporary waiver & allocate $ to accelerate compliance.

3. There are any number of reasons one may choose to lateral or leave full time teaching for a posh think tank w no teaching requirements. Invariably though "things will be better for me at the new place" is true in ALL but the most vexing of situations (e.g., moving to support family member) ->

2. Besides fantastic weather and amazing students, UCLA attracts & retains profs w/ FANTASTIC PENSIONS. But retention leverage flips at some point If you reach a certain level of seniority (say 30 yrs)-- it is $ financially advantageous to retire and take a new job elsewhere. -->

If I were suing West Point, I wouldn't use a news story detailing horrific & systemic racism & an USAF pamphlet saying things could have been much, much worse to insist courts should reject military deference & prohibit race-conscious policies. But then again I don't have 5-6 justices in the bag.
