Also: don't let anyone tell you that this is a one and done thing. These fuckers need to be denied power for a generation, not slowed down for four more years before everyone quits because all the problems didn't go away in an instant.

If you care about the USA, the single best thing you can do today is to contribute to a downticket race thats close. The second best thing you can do is cancel your NYT subscription and use that money for the purpose.

i think akhil amar reed captures something very important, which is that the roberts court rewrote article ii, which explicitly states that a president can be held criminally liable after impeachment (and which has long been understood to mean that he can be held liable after leaving office)

“Politics would be interesting again,” is a hell of a thing to say generally and also, for these commentators, obviously untrue. Nothing about any replacement process will be as arousing to them as the prospect of forcing the renominated president out of the race with enough poison pen columns.

It took what, 14 plus years, for the people to wake up that the policies are not there to help them? Not sure the US has that many years before it's too late.

The Missouri AG's office also butted into the prosecution of Patricia and Mark McCloskey, filling an amicus brief arguing for dismissal the day after charges were filed. An in-group who the law protects but does not bind and an out-group who the law binds but does not protect.

I live surrounded by morons in a congested rural area. Only regs against noise are after 10. Firearms are constant, fireworks ridiculously frequent. The metro & burbs areas & the west side of the US have no clue how crowded the SE rural areas are here, nor how unregulated. Tannerite is common.

At one of our local mega churches in Cartersville, GA, the pastor married builder. They proceeded to buy a huge parcel of land and build a bigger church. Now, they are developing the surrounding land to build housing. I think they are likely in the 4th or 5th phase now . Multiple projects.

Okay, so put the threat to democracy aside. You’re still supporting a guy who lies incessantly, is an unapologetic bigot, punches down on the vulnerable, wants to imprison his critics — I could go on. I don’t know if tuning out or ignorance of who Trump really is is a plausible excuse anymore.
