of course additional complications: 1. Dems lose tie-breaker vote in senate 2. House Reps will refuse to approve a VP replacement who isn't a "compromise" (i.e., a republican) (to keep #1 in place) 3. right-wing group will sue in battleground states to keep H off ballots
