PDS self-hosters! we have a distro release coming soon. the first part is schema support for starter packs, a feature we just released that uses records in the PDS. second is early OAuth backend support. we don't have the atproto OAuth system documented/specified, but will be soon

Were there already other clients available for use in the terminal?

I have heard versions of this very reasonable question many times, but it misunderstands what money is to the hyper-wealthy (aside from just how they keep score of who’s got the worst daddy issues) — it’s a *flow*, not a fixed supply. How much water is enough for a firefighter? No such thing! …

Still no option for me to submit our Threads feature to Meta for review. Tried contacting developer support but that submission fails for unknown reasons. The issue seems to be that the Meta dev dashboard is not recognizing all the successful API calls we are already making.

Finally got around to reading Geoff Huston's comprehensive, heartbreaking eulogy of DNSSEC. He takes the thought-provoking position that TLS has largely subsumed the need for DNSSEC - not perfectly, and with a somewhat different threat model, but still. Great networking neckbeard reading, as always.

What are the implications when only victors of history write the narratives of progress and define societal values? What are the value systems embedded in our institutions and policies, and how do they reinforce the need for ongoing growth at the expense of the natural world and human well-being?

Current mainstream narratives sell the story that progress is synonymous with betterment, and that the world becomes better for everyone as GDP and economies continue to grow. Yet, this is an incomplete portrayal that leaves out the dark sides of advancement.
