Read this story and then ponder how many good apples in the police department and prosecutor's office *absolutely knew* who was the real murderer was and conspired to railroad this lady to protect him.

Yes, that is an amazing song. The first time I heard it it was so great that I had to listen to it about 7 more times in a row

So based on decisions from just this week, the President, as long has he has the gloss of officialdom, can basically do anything without legal restraint, whereas the President, acting via duly appointed agencies authorized by Congress, is more restrained than ever? What a coherent jurisprudence!

Right-wing host Adam King, who compared Palestinians to "monkeys" on his show, stands behind LA's Mayor Karen Bass wearing his InfoWars hat as Bass thanks him and other Jewish leaders on stage for "standing against antisemitism", at a closed-door presser at the Simon Wisenthal Center in Los Angeles

Anyway, please keep calling Governor Hochul at 1-518-474-8390. Tell her you support congestion pricing and that she must reverse her decision immediately.

I am also completely outraged by what this is going to do to accessibility! 23 stations were slated to get ADA upgrades and now that's off the table. Even more enraging when I think about all the bad-faith, concern trolling arguments from congestion pricing opponents about people with disabilities.

Also you have to describe all the complicated procedures your ancestors had to follow to be legally admitted. For my ancestors I believe it was just waiting in line at Ellis Island

Hardly the first evidence of this but Columbia has gone completely ‘round the bend. They put three deans on suspension because some creep from the Free Beacon looked over their shoulders and saw them writing snarky texts?!? You do not take orders from these people!

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knew how this was going to go from the beginning. The Democrats turning this into a bipartisan invitation was yet another case of political incompetence. Treat Bibi like the corrupt political operator that he is.

Texas DA wants an execution date for Robert Roberson, convicted with Shaken Baby Syndrome junk science. Between this and Marcellus Williams in Missouri, it seems we've reached the "I'm so pro-death penalty I'll execute the innocent" stage of the debate.

I haven't seen the anime, but often katakana is used in a similar way to italics in English, to emphasize that the word is being used in an unusual way, or just to make it stand out.

“Non-lethal” rubber bullet blinds a journalist in one eye, leads to blindness in the second, and causes dementia and now fatal traumatic brain injury. To be clear: a rubber bullet fired AT her HEAD, while she was flashing journalist credentials and not close to protestors or police. Fatally shot.

Antony Starr is incredible, the show is worth watching for him alone. Aside from Karl Urban, tho, a lot of the "good" side of the cast is very weak. Neither Hughie or Starlight seem to be able to act at all. And this season they don't seem to know what to do with Serge or Kimiko (who I both like).

Hochul and Adams govern based on what they see on the 11 o'clock news or hear from people who read the New York Post. Just the worst.

Yeah, we pretty much never had it in the Philippines. But I think for a long time, in much of the world, the US has gotten a huge benefit from being considered to be the good guys. It was never entirely true, but I think there's very left of that any more.

Evil and stupid. Even ignoring however many thousands of deaths this may have led to, whatever benefit the US could have possibly gotten from this must be vastly outweighed by losing whatever remains of the moral high ground that the US has benefited from.

When admins bring in consultants from these types of firms, they've already decided to cut programs and simply need someone to put a "data-driven" veneer on it. Before hiring a consultancy, admin should be required to publicize the firm's other higher ed clients and the outcomes *they* experienced

So they're locking in the politics at the must unpopular point, not getting any of the benefits (cleaner air, money, lack of congestion), pissing off their natural supporters, and Republicans can STILL run against the bogeyman of congestion pricing in the fall. Great move, Democrats...

Well, also, Manchin represents West Virginia! As far as "Wins Above Replacement" he's always been one of our best senators. I guarantee we're going to miss him when West Virginia elects their next senator. Hochul represents New York, she probably one of our worst governors in terms WAR...

There’s a good lesson to learn here about also calling your reps for the programs you like instead of just the ones you don’t like, but now’s not the time for that. Hochul’s phone lines opened five minutes ago and it’s time to call again. (518) 474-8390 is the number to let her know this sucks.

Have heard more rage from more otherwise non-political New Yorkers about congestion pricing being paused than about nearly any issue in the last few years. Hochul fucked up big time and whoever told her this was good politics should be fired.
