Software developer, diversity-lover. The scientific method is the most important invention in history, then probably beer.

In the many years of teaching kids a unit on either slavery or the Civil Rights, I never had a white kid feel bad because they identified with the racists. They all thought they'd be part of the Underground Railroad, they all thought they'd be best friends with Ruby Bridges.

Without even clicking the link, I’ll guess the reason — all the talk of racism makes white kids feel guilty. Again, if your kids are reading histories of slavery or segregation and identifying with the racists in the story, that suggests you’ve got your own problems to work through. Leave us out.

Whenever someone is outed as problematic, there are a billion people who need to see, in sky-writing, "you didn't know, that's ok, but now you do, act accordingly." No one expects you to be psychic or in on every whisper network, and folks inferring so aren't being fair. WHISPER networks. WHISPER.

When the american liberals use France's election as an illustration of the need to VOTE, they ignore that people were not only voting against the far right but *for* something. They voted for a campaign which promises to: increase minimum wage, lower retirement age, pay for all childcare, etc

I’m thinking back to 2016 and 2017 and the big push at the time among Democrats to better support media outlets as a counter to Trump - major U.S. media has truly squandered that good will.

Worth noting the EPA's brief correctly uses "nitrogen oxide" 7 times, and the EPA submitted a declaration from an official who used it twice. But nobody involved in the majority opinion, Justices and clerks, bothered to take the EPA's brief seriously, and so none of them noticed the error.

Yeah because the White House was working on a bill to help those with Parkinson’s disease that was signed this week. This is literal far right disinformation from the New York Times.

A hill I will die on: all white-collar crimes are violent crimes. It's just that the violence is removed from the perpetrator because the perpetrator is wealthy.

Got to visit Wolf Hollow in Ipswich, MA this morning again and sign more books for their gift shop! A wonderful wolf sanctuary with extremely caring staff and volunteers. ♥️ Highly recommend a visit! If you visit, you can find copies of This Wolf Was Different there again! (They had sold out before!)

In 2020, some of ya’ll said Biden would never be the nominee. Then black voters put him at the top of the running. Then you said he couldn’t beat Trump. Then he beat Trump and ya’ll said he’s just a middle of the road moderate. /1

I have seen multiple people say they do not like single source stories (by which they mean, instances where later stories are copied from another story), and this sticks in my craw for sexual assault stories, because this requires that victims of sexual assault speak to multiple reporters.

17 Presidents were Senators, 15 were VPs. Harris has been both. Standard POTUS qualification stuff. There's been only one President who never held a high-ranking government post before: Donald Trump, and it showed through his incompetence and mismanagement.

I get that this is a bad piece and give 'em all their lumps for it. But I do think the strength of "convicted felon" as a talking point has been generally overestimated. The term you should use, that's more specific and packs more of a punch, is to call him a convicted fraud. That's the crime here.

Six members of SCOTUS looked at the last 8 years and thought “these prosecutions of Trump tell me we gotta stop the prosecutions” rather than “Trump tells me we gotta have accountability for guys like Trump” We can save our democracy but modern conservatism has deeply, maybe mortally, wounded it

LOOK AT HER. LOOK AT HER BLUESKY! Clearly based on the U Class, but adapted for Baltic ops. That's an icebreaker bow (which makes her lines filth af) and she's rigged for minelaying above and below, hence the sidepods. Her tail is pure U though. I would marry this boat. She is utterly gorgeous.

Trump can say he'll distance himself from Project 2025 as much as he wants, but in his last term he appointed every faithful FedSoc judge he could get his hands on, and that's basically the entire game.
