surveillance for real though. it doesn't get as much attention as everything else, but the shift on that policy is constantly "give the FBI the power to spy on everybody and their mom, even let them spy on us in congress, with no consequences whatsoever". they *just* reauthorized FISA this year.

we didn't have ICE in the 90s, we didn't have cop cities in the 90s, we didn't have a whooooooooole buncha things dems passed Super Bipartisanly after 9/11 and have shown no interest in ever rolling back. on many issues, things were already bad, but have actually gotten worse, with dems help.
