I agree that he should have enough curiosity to learn, but as things stand, this actually shows some humility from him. Itā€™s not about the fact that writing some simple female characters would be impossible, but I give him credit from saying heā€™d rather not do it at all, before he can do it right.

"A hostile military alliance, now including even Sweden and Finland, is at the very borders of Russia. How are Russian leaders ā€” whose country was almost destroyed by Western invasion twice in the 20th century ā€” supposed to react to this?"

MIT philosopher Kieran Setiya says: "If you want to understand the climate crisis and you only have time to read one book, this should be it."

Milwaukee police are looking into the death of a Black man in an incident drawing comparisons to the killing of George Floyd, after footage emerged that appears to show hotel guards pinning the man to the ground as he called for help.

Isn't it funny how no evidence is needed to start a genocide or commit any number of atrocities, but we need to be very careful and allow a slow investigation in order to condemn atrocities like bombing hospitals or aid convoys?

If you steal $1000, you can be sent to prison. When health insurance companies steal $50,000,000,000, they get tax breaks, subsidies and government contracts, while the people they steal from die or go into debt. But keep blaming immigrants and poor people for rising crime.

It is bad news. But they wonā€™t spin it. Keir Starmer is not a leftist. He purged all the leftists from the party. So the press loves him, actually.

The UK news isnā€™t all that great. Keir Starmer is center-right. Heā€™s nowhere near a socialist. It isnā€™t Jeremy Corbynā€™s Labour unfortunately.

As people react to the horrible crime of someone getting pushed in front of a BART train, worth noting platform screen doors prevent this and are standard in subways around the world.

BART decided against them because $24m was too expensive.

Yeah. It's weird, but actual usefulness doesn't often attract the most capital either, most often because it doesn't scale well, or quickly enough. Whereas these LLMs are all about deploying at scale, so it doesn't matter that the actual, individual results are shit, they still attract capital.

Classic American political dialogue is premised on the idea that we share fundamental values but disagree on how best to promote them. I havenā€™t believed this for a while. Other than ā€œI prefer to be alive and not deadā€ and ā€œI like pudding,ā€ I do not share values with these people.

I suppose the aim is not really accuracy, but you feeding it data points by trying to be more and more specific in order to attempt to narrow down the answer.

I keep wondering why the thought of a third party never enters the mind though. A rancid ham sandwich may stink, but itā€™s static, passive. Biden isnā€™t passive tho, in his approval of genocide, approval and support for police brutality and refusal to implement even a public option. Trump is just same

In my mind, a Dementia Meat Puppet and a Reality TV Oligarch are both perfectly suitable symbols for representing the US empire. And thatā€™s all a #US #president is: a symbolic representative with no real power anyway. The US is being run by unelected empire managers.

Scientists did their jobs. It's fossil fuel companies who lied about climate impacts FOR DECADES. They're to blame for these heat waves.
