It really is grotesque that we have to tolerate, and accept as fellow citizens, these despicable subnormal freaks who delight in evil and threaten everything that makes America great with their sick fantasies. On the other hand honestly the furries can be kind of irritating too.

Even if the Dems get the house and pass this, no chance enough GOP senators vote to convict to give the requisite 2/3 majority needed. Which isn't to say this is pointless. It's not! Dems *should* be shouting about SCOTUS's corruption with every tool they have to drive voters.

“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.

There’s a large subset of the population who actively cheered this on. Basically all Reform voters plus a sizable number of Tory voters.

What happens if Merchan rejects Trump's motion to vacate, and Trump appeals (either within NYS or to the feds) before sentencing? Would the mandate for the case be taken away from Merchan prior to sentencing?

Not that anyone particularly cares about original meaning, but think folks should still say it out loud: For all of the things that are unclear in the founding documents and unknowabilities of what the Founders intended, "the President can kill anyone or commit a coup" was *never* legally arguable

1/ Let me explain one way that today's Trump immunity decision threatens the survival of the Republic. Under today's ruling, a President would be immune for any way in which he used the military (a "core function"), even to kill American citizens in America. Theoretically, the soldiers who . . .

The only people who've ever held Trump meaningfully accountable over the last nine years have been ordinary Americans and they've spent that entire time being lectured to and berated by elites who've failed to do anything.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.

The thing I can't stop thinking about is this: I'm 48, and in my adult lifetime there has been one Republican who won the popular vote. But I will probably spend the rest of my life under the authority of a Supreme Court dominated by hard right conservatives. How is that democracy?

My wife and I settled on names before we even knew we wanted kids. I lost my dad at 18, she lost her mom at 17, and we agreed to name our (only) kid after one of them. As a Michael born in the 80's, I definitely didn't want a *super* popular name; but also not one she would always have to spell.

A serious attempt by legislators or a candidate to invalidate a plainly valid election to install someone who plainly lost the election as president is not a "legal hack" or "finalizing results". It is treason. It is a treason against the United States and its citizens. We shouldn't dance around it.

The Red Card Wedding may be less known outside the PNW.

Unfortunately, a lot of the best coverage was on Sounder At Heart and got lost in the migration after they were cut loose by SB Nation, but here’s one article immediately after the fact: www.oregonlive.com/timbers/2015...

Because Biden can’t do anything wrong just because his opponent is Trump. 🙄 He did, however, impose a Trump-style ban on asylum seekers, in contravention of both his campaign promises and international law.
