Not the most terrifying thing but perhaps the most infuriating: every single thing we said about these fascist Republican fucks has been proved out and all the people who assured us that what is happening would never happen smoothly pivoted to yes it's happening but it will be fine.

What an utterly bizarre, acutely dangerous, and downright terrifying place this country is in. Because six unelected rightwing operatives said so. And because the Republican Party is united behind the worst person in America to hold this kind of power.

A lot of it has faded, to be sure. But this, by Jefferson--standing tall, inscribed in his memorial--speaks down through the ages, and inviting a nation that needs to hear it, to choose a better future for itself, unshackled by any laws or institutions that fail to move us forward to a better future

"In recent weeks and months, the Court has gone plainly past the mandate the Constitution provides for it. This country needs a strong Court, but a Court that operates in the best interests of justice, and which makes decisions by law; not by preference. For this reason it must change."

That "immunity" is bullshit anyway — the current SCOTUS will only support and enforce it in service of Trump and nobody else, if Biden tries to take advantage of it they will promptly end up issuing a decision that somehow flips it over

I keep on thinking about how John Roberts messed up nitrogen oxide with nitrous oxide in a ruling on how the courts were better suited to provide expertise than experts.

but it's adding only 4 extra characters for every link? in your own screenshot: "[iA Writer Tips and Tricks](medium.com/ia-writer-ti... )" the only extra characters are the brackets and parentheses. if you don't want a custom text for the link, you can typically just type the URL without formatting

"You wouldn't use air conditioning if you care about the environment" is just the new "You'd recycle your plastic if you cared about the environment." Both purposely default to individual responsibility as the cure when the real issue is industries & companies. It's. a. distraction. It always is.

to be fair, things do fall through the cracks, if you depend on static typing alone. then again, they also do with unit tests too. still, unit tests give you a better guarantee, but that 12-month 5-man job would have been at lest 24 months with 10 people if I had to do it with unit tests on my own

love it when I finally gather the nerve to order an expensive but inessential piece of tech treat that's also pretty limited and kind of waiting-list-backorder kind of thing, and then UPS has to deliver it on a Friday and then they notify me that they will be "one business day late" 😔
