I think about this all the time, especially as a t1 diabetic. People with t1d aren't long for this world without insulin. Some might go a few weeks, but it could be a matter of days for others. And diabetic ketoacidosis is a gawd-awful experience that ends in coma & death without insulin.

I wonder if the witch-burning vibe of parents screeching about banning books & grooming, plus mandated violence against queer kids and families, has anything to do with the loss of/difficulty recruiting certified teachers.

The GOP’s nominee to run the 9th most populous state just called for killing people who disagree with the far-right and that sentiment was echoed by the head of Heritage and the man behind Project 2025. But like 90% of all political news is about Democratic hand-wringing over Biden’s debate flop.

The Supreme Court's opposition to scientific expertise is eventually going to bring down all of US science if they are not stopped. The government funds almost all basic science. SCOTUS's approach is going to break that, and with it the US biotech/health economy. 🧪

However you cut it, ‘conservative’ legal movement doctrine is fundamentally inconsistent with how governments need to operate in a modern market economy. Some of the GOP justices just don’t care; some of them naively deny the likelihood of the chaos they are unleashing.

So much for the Chevron doctrine, although SCROTUS already made clear their disdain for precedent. Dismissing the value of expertise aligns with the larger right wing project to undermine intellectualism. What could go wrong?
